I have now leveled my leatherworking and skinning to 100 and crafted the most useful items from the profession! Medium Armor Kit and Light Armor Kit. I switched to Enchanting so I can break down the worthless green gear that is filling my inventory and Hebraism so I can gather the flowers I will need for alchemy. I read that the secondary professions go past level 100 and from a different source that Started Edition accounts are basically vanilla and burning Crusade combined. So 350 cooking, first aid and fishing here I come!

This weekend happens to be a battleground holiday for Arathi Basin. This piqued my curiosity. I queue up for a match to find that I am grouped with nine other level 20s. Waiting for the match to start I’m inspecting gear and everyone is summoning their mount. Some had heirlooms so they wouldn’t be trial accounts. Unless they participated in hundreds of matches to get the thousands of honor required to buy each piece. Like every other tedious task I attempt I must know if this is possible. My current goal will be to buy at least one piece of heirloom gear for homogenizer

Yay! 20!

Levels just seem to fly by when you use the dungeon finder. Now level 20 I get to start the hunt for the best Azeroth has to offer. I was missing the achievement for exploring Durotar so I had to visit Echo Isles. I didn’t realize that had changed to the troll starting area. Learn to read patch notes, right? What a beautiful place Echo Isles is now full of fun quests and a story. After wrapping up this unexplored content I went to Trisfal Glades. So far I have jumped off the zeppelin and ran into the inn at Brill. I like how the buildings were remodeled. Kudos to Blizzard, what a wonderful job updating the look and feel of Horde areas

First Instance

I was a little worried at first about how instances would work. Seeing as trial accounts cannot join groups or guilds. My mind was eased when I hit level 15 and unlocked the dungeon finder. The experience was the same as subscription accounts. Pick a roll, then pick and instance, and queue. Homoginizer’s first instance was a full clear of Ragefire Chasm. Time to queue up again!

Finished Mulgore!

I almost forgot to mention as Homogenizer is a hunter he starts out with a pet. The Tauren starting pet is a tallstrider.  This bird is awesome. He will peck your eyes out. Even if you don’t have eyes. He will peck out where he thinks your eyes should be.

So I finished Mulgore, got the exploration achievement on my way out, and headed to Orgrimmar. I admit I haven’t done anything on the horde side in a numbers of years especially with the Orcs, but all the changes that were made seem to be graphical. Don’t get me wrong. The environment is beautiful. You just interact with the environment the same way you always have with some small variance. I do particularly enjoy the pins of pigs in the Orc starting area that you can slaughter and skin for no look but a skill up every time. This reminds me of the pigs outside of Goldshire that I skinned all the way to 450. Some may call this a glitch. I like to think of it is the pigs being really generous.

I also noticed that the Kolkar were replaced with humans from the Northwatch faction. In fact the humans outside of Razor Hill are also with the Northwatch faction. I don’t recall the Northwatch being outside of Northwatch hold by Ratchet. I can’t wait to explore further and see what this conflict is the Orcs have with the Northwatch.

The Beginning

A friend of mine at work had this idea to create world of warcraft trial accounts so we can get a character to level 20 and go crazy. I already had a trial account linked to me main account so I signed in a created a Tauren hunter named Homogenizer.

The first thing I noticed is the help menu and pop up tips were radically different. The starting quests had also changed to be linier. After finishing the starting quest hub I was flown over to the next one. This is when I learned a few disappointing things bout trial accounts.

The following restrictions are placed on all Starter Edition Accounts:
- A level cap of 20.
- A maximum of 10 gold.
- Trade skills are capped at 100 ranks.
- Unable to trade via the Auction House, mailbox, or player-to-player.
- In-game access to public chat channels unavailable. Players are limited to communicating using only say, party, or whisper.
- Characters will be unable to create or join guilds.
- Characters are not able to send whispers to other characters unless they have been added to the characters' friends' lists or have received a whisper from a character first.
- Characters will not be able to invite other players into a party.
- Characters will be unable to disable experience gains.
- Voice chat disabled on Starter Edition accounts.
- Realms experiencing login queues will prioritize players who have full, paid accounts.
- Starter Edition accounts are not eligible for character transfers
- RealID features are disabled on all Starter Edition Accounts.

Now I want to explore all the possibilities of trial accounts and what they can do.
